Brand new block-based article editor

The article editor just got the biggest rewrite since launch. We've shipped a block-based editing experience that puts the toolbar where you need it, when you need it.

What's changed:

  • Slash commands — start any line with / to insert any block type (heading, list, quote, table, image, divider, embed).
  • Block handles in the gutter — drag any block to reorder, or click the + to insert a new one above or below.
  • Selection bubble menu — formatting controls appear right next to your selection instead of in a top toolbar that pulls your eyes away.
  • Table bubble menu — column and row controls live directly on the table you're editing.
  • Per-block placeholders — every empty block tells you what it expects, so you're never staring at a blank line wondering what to do.

Image handling got a serious upgrade too. You can drop images into the editor, paste them from your clipboard with Ctrl+V, or pick them via the redesigned embed modal. Uploads go straight to our image storage with no Cloudinary middleman, which means faster delivery to your readers.

One sneaky bug got squashed along the way: switching the article's locale used to leak the previous image's source into the editor. The editor now correctly re-applies image attributes on locale switch.

If you write long posts, this release is going to feel like a different product.

The editor is the surface where writers spend the most time and we wanted it to feel like the modern tools you already love. Genuinely happy with how this turned out — the team spent months on the polish that does not show in screenshots.
