The homepage hero appears sooner with self-hosted typography

The homepage now shows its headline much faster.

Our brand typefaces were being fetched from an external font service, and that request blocked the page from drawing its main heading until the font finished loading, by itself the single biggest delay before the hero appeared.

We now serve the fonts directly from our own site, bundled alongside the page. There's no external round-trip, and a readable fallback shows instantly while the branded typeface swaps in moments later.

Expected mobile load of the hero: roughly 3.1s down to about 1.7s.

In plain terms, the first thing you see on the homepage now arrives almost twice as fast, especially on phones.
